Join Kendi for an evening of Winter Solstice celebration with emphasis on mindful movement and slow flow. Defeat mid-winter woes by listening and honoring the cycles of your body and mind just as we honor the change of season. With consistent practice and honest intention, winter can become a season of introspection and self-realization. We can’t think of a better way to spend the shortest day of the year!
Enter the New Year in a relaxed and centered state with intentions to honor the past, relish in the present, and embrace new beginnings.
The night will begin with a Yoga Nidra: a deep state of meditative relaxation. Simply lying down, participants are first guided through a 61 point body scan and breath awareness meditation followed by a sound healing in which we will lead you through a journey of angelic singing and chanting accompanied by a guitar, charango (traditional Andean instrument), crystal singing bowl, native hand drum, and specifically designed tuning forks for activating the chakras. The practice of yoga nidra with sound healing promotes deep rest, calmness and awakens the connection between mind, body and spirit. Reenter the world feeling deeper connection with yourself, a sense of well being and ease.
Following Yoga Nidra, we will gather together for a Puja, a ritualistic Hindu fire ceremony in which we will release old energy and cultivate the best version of ourselves for the new year and beyond. Ending, we will enjoy a delicious sweet treat.
As musicians and yoga instructors, Jason Wise and Margeaux Fraasa combine their love of both in a duet of soothing vibrations and guidance to the deepest point of conscious relaxation.
Cost: $20-25 Sliding Scale Donation

Join Jason Wise and Margeaux Fraasa, both Certified Plant Food Chefs and Yoga Instructors, for a 2 hour recipe development workshop exploring Ayurvedic foods for winter wellness and vitality. Ayurveda, an ancient Hindu medicine system, integrates following the cycle of seasons as well as tuning into your individual constitution, prakruti, for optimal health and balance both body and mind. Ayurveda also views health of the digestive system as the source of highest health. Agni, meaning fire, is seen as a metaphor for stimulating digestion and therefore all metabolic functions in the body. In winter season, the digestive fire is actually the strongest. Early December is the perfect time to choose health-supporting foods and spices that stimulate the digestive fire at its strongest time of the year.
In this workshop we will ...
Discuss the three subtle energies/doshas of prakruti (vata, pitta and kapha) and how they integrate into our seasonal health
Discuss ancient India Vedic culture and relationship with agni, or digestive fire
Demonstrate and prepare three foundation Ayurvedic recipes that ignite digestive fire, build up and nourish the body in winter season
Learn essential spices for seasoning your winter foods that aid in a strong, balanced digestion
Practice pranayama (breathing techniques) that activate digestive fire
This workshop includes a meal of kitchari, golden milk and ginger spiced tonic. Cost $25 pp pre-registration before 12/9, $30 day of.

Kendi grew up in Greencastle, Indiana and attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. There, she swam competitively and is a decorated road and track cyclist, winning both individual and team national titles throughout her collegiate career. Upon retirement of all competitive sports she naturally transitioned to yoga as a personal care system and fell in love with the physicality of the practice. In October of 2016 she spent two months on Kauai studying at Yoga Hanalei allowing her to expand her spiritual practice and cultivate personal growth through chanting, philosophy and anatomy. Her classes are designed to take her students beyond their self-imposed limitations with emphasis on alignment and step-by-step progressions. She also studies Sanskrit and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and is excited to share her knowledge and foster growth in the Mammoth yoga community.

As the season changes from summer to fall, we notice a transition in the environment around us. Cool winds increase the dryness introducing a light, airy, floating quality. The mornings and evenings are cool and foliage is bursting with earthy but vibrant colors
As humans, we are also affected by the natural cycle of the seasons. Fall is a time of transition for us as well. With the predominance of Vata (Ayurvedic dosha) season, we become cooler and drier physically. We may seem less stable and grounded, transpiring an increase in labile emotions and reactions.
Embracing a sense of warmth, grounding, stability and focus into your yoga practice has a profoundly calming effect on vata and can work wonders during vata season.
Come join Neva as she guides you through a Fall Equinox practice focusing on grounding and strength. Connect with the earth beneath you and your inner self, help quiet the mind and bring balance to your life.
This special seasonal "Yin & Yang" practice will start with some warming and grounding postures and focus on building strength and stability. Then the practice will end with a restorative and balancing focus. Candlelight and essential oils will be used.
Cost: $10 drop in special, bring a friend and receive a discount for each of you ($8 each person). Use of class passes and punch card permitted except 30 for $30 pass.
About the Teacher -One of Neva's life purposes is to help facilitate healing in others through alternative therapies. She is an accomplished massage therapist who has been practicing for over 10 years. Along with massage therapy, Neva also discovered yoga to be one of the most profound therapies for body, mind and spirit. She has been practicing yoga for over ten years. She has trained with Yogis in Thailand, northern India, Mexico and the U.S. Neva blends the skills she has learned from these teachers with her own unique style. She strives to help settle the mind and restore the body through breath work and movement. Neva received her yoga teaching certification from the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico in 2014. When not working you’ll usually find her outside either rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, or snowboarding.
An Immersive Sound Bath is very similar in nature to many of the traditional sound baths that you may be familiar with. However, instead of playing instruments such as glass bowls or gongs around the space, the sounds are created within a circle of 8 independent speakers utilizing the infinite possibilities of electronic sounds.
With this unique setup, the movement and frequency of the sounds can be controlled on a very precise level using the custom software that we have created to move sound in a circular pattern. The cyclical nature of the swirling sounds invokes a blissful and peaceful trancelike state unlike any other.
Additionally, because the sounds selected are neutral (not from nature or traditional instruments) it enables listeners to become easily immersed in thought and to effortlessly project there own imagery onto the soundscape.
The session itself begins by inviting the group to create a cozy place for themselves on the floor with pads, blankets, pillows and perhaps an eye cover. Then there is a brief introduction and greeting followed by 50 minutes of ambient electronic music with 8 speakers setup in a circle around the group. After the immersion comes to a gentle closing, the session ends with a few minutes of silence and they come back into awareness as slowly as is needed.

We believe yoga has the transformative power to heal, reveal and inspire. Studies have shown that people who get regular exercise, like yoga, have a lower risk of breast cancer than people who are inactive. Studies also suggest that practicing yoga for just ten weeks seems to reduce stress and anxiety in people experiencing mild-to-moderate levels of stress. Yoga appears to work about as well as relaxation therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy

Our body is comprised of all of the elements which make up life – the food of the earth, the sacred water of our primarily fluid body, the metabolic and electrical fire of our cellular and neural network, the air which is the breath of life that nourishes every cell, and the space which primarily pervades our body.
Awakening the “elemental body” is the primary energetic map in Prana Flow that forms the foundation for our sequencing of movement alchemy, our embodiment of nature and an integrated flow between our practice and life.

The practice of meditation is a low cost lifestyle intervention that reduces stress in the mind and body; leading to greater health and well-being. Meditation students learn to train the mind by focusing attention on the breath and body with relaxed awareness. The benefits of a regular, daily practice (as short as 15-20 minutes) are well documented. Physiological changes include a decrease in oxygen consumption, breathing and heart rate, and blood pressure. Advances in neurosciences also demonstrate that meditation exercises the brain, improving cognitive health and contributing to healthy aging. But the day to day results that really matter to people include: an increase in the ability to concentrate and to approach tasks with clarity, a decrease in emotional and behavioral reactions, and greater access to a calm, peaceful state-of-mind - all of which provide fuel for personal growth and change. And happier relationships.
If you are ready to make a lifestyle change for your greater well-being, please consider this opportunity: Cheryl will be offering an “Introduction to Meditation” workshop on
Sunday, October 30th, 2016 from 12:30 - 3:30 pm. Space is limited. Pre-registration Required; No Walk-ins Permitted. Cost is $35 if paid in advance by October 15th; $45 thereafter. Please register on the class schedule link to Mindbody.
