Happy May Day! The Northern European May Day traditions of yesteryear translate into modern day as an opportunity to celebrate the transition into spring. Envision children creating flower filled crowns to float atop their heads, and long, colorful ribbons into intertwined through dance around a may pole. Although we may not all have access to a may pole, nor may we want to dance around it, taking a moment to acknowledge and celebrate at this time can allow us to reestablish and feel our human connection to the natural rhythms of the earth.
In the high Sierras we are still receiving bits of snow, and many of us are still enjoying playing in it, but overall the temperatures are warming, the melt is on, and the rivers are flowing. Signs of new life have emerged from under the moistened mud and little buds have become more prominent on the trees and bushes. As we feel the shifting of the seasons, and welcome the newness of spring, we are offered an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate the snow filled season which has passed and possibly set intentions for the season ahead.
At Mountain Sol, we are pleased to say, we have enjoyed a very busy couple months since the studio opened. Thank you to all the yogi patrons, from near and far, who have stopped in to practice. We’d also like to thank all our teachers who have taught our yoga classes, meditations, and workshops. You have been integral to helping create this new yoga community at Mountain Sol.
As the seasons change, so do people’s lives. We are sad to bid temporary farewells to two of our regularly scheduled teachers, Nathalie Brilliant and Morgan Chambers. Morgan will be heading out to work in Yosemite for the summer. She will continue to teach classes intermittently throughout the summer, so keep your eye on the online schedule for her! Nathalie is taking some time in San Francisco for the month of May to host workshops and display her art. She will return to Mammoth in June so look for her on our online schedule as well.
We look forward to adding Lindsay McLaughlin Schneider to our regular summer schedule. She has been teaching yoga in Mammoth for many years and has been substituting classes for Mountain Sol. She is currently completing her 700 Hour yoga therapy training this month and we are thrilled to have her back in June.
Erin Koehler also begins her Ayurvedic Health Practitioner internship this month and will see clients who are interested in receiving Ayurvedic wellness consultations. People commonly seek Ayurveda forhelp with digestive issues, emotional disturbances and various other complaints. Please visit our website for more information about Ayurveda at Mountain Sol Yoga.
With various teacher changes happening, please do take a moment to check the online schedule before coming to class. We will also have new printed schedules for you to pick up if you prefer a paper copy. Around town you will be seeing a new postcard sized flier and the written schedule is on the reverse of those as well.
We have added a few retails items to our space, including Manduka Pro-Lite Yoga Mats. Please come see what other new treasures we are selling.
We are enjoying the birth and growth of Mountain Sol Yoga & Holistic Healing, and look forward to all that the warm seasons bring!
